It's been a while

It's been a long time since I have sat down and wrote anything in here. Life just got hectic and time ran away from me. But that doesn't mean life hasn't then... eventful.

First, the fun stuff. As much as I want to save money I can't seem to say no to fun, fashionable, and beauty related items to add to my collection. Target has gotten some really cute stuff, especially in their clearance section.

The coral, lace tank top was 70% off which made it $3. A few months ago I bought the black version at retail and a mint color one for $7. They make great layering pieces for work or play.

I saw a review of the Sonia Kashuk pallet on YouTube and decided to fork over the $20 for it. A little steep, yes, but for a pallet of nothing but matte colors I figured it was a good investment. Maybe I am the only one who has noticed, but it is really hard to find matte shadows at a drugstore. A lot of drugstore brands only have shadows with glitter. I love some sparkle, don't get me wrong, but it's nice to have a nice, clean lid. I hope the color payoff is true to life.

I have only goldtone watches. I do wear a lot of gold, which I like' but decided to expand my collection with some silvertone. At one Target I found this silvertone with clear band watch which was on sale from $16.99 to $11.88, another 30% off. I love how playful the piece is.

The last thing I bought during this venture was a new wallet/iPhone case. It was only $9.99 and perfect for spring. And chevron seems to be the pattern of the season. It's great to carry on a night out and I don't want to carry a purse or when I run some errands. I also found an iPhone 5 case for cheap! Cases are so expensive! The one I found hidden in the clearance section was 70% of, originally $24.99 down to $7.48. Target can do no wrong sometimes.

And now... the not so fun stuff.

In the love department I have made some serious mistakes. Serious mistakes that no woman should do to another woman. I broke a girl rule and I will leave it at that. It has now made life a little more difficult, but now I have to live with my decisions. I have accepted it and now I must go on.

And in between all that time I went shopping again lol I went to Target yesterday and found some pieces I liked.

I always wear flats and found these cute black ones for$19.99and they are comfortable for the most part. They need some breaking in. Then I found the silvertone watch I have been looking for. At $16.99 I think it was a good buy. I think I may save sow net for a nice Michael Kors one.

And that's it. I hope you are enjoying the weekend like I am.

Jewelry collection and storage

Over the last 3 years I started collecting a lot of fashion jewelry. It started with just bracelets, wearing them stacked on one wrist. But now I expanded my addiction, mainly statement necklaces. I feel that nothing spruces up an outfit like a bold, signature necklace. But are a while I started running out of places to store my baubles, but found a cute and conventional way to store my pieces.

I bought this glass case from Marshalls about 2 years ago and thought it was perfect to store my bracelets and earrings. Since I can see right through it I think it reminds me to make an effort to pick something out for my outfit and nothing is hidden. And I don't forget that I own something. I use to have a wooden jewelry case and I would find myself saying "Oh, I forgot I had this!" on more than one occasion.

I have all my earrings stored in a sack from Bauble Bar. It's not the best storage for my earrings but at least I know ALL my earrings are in one place. My earring collection needs some help. I have still not found the perfect hoop earring. I tend to go for studs with lots of bling. I'm a sucker for anything that sparkles.

Then, my necklaces. I use to have my necklaces in my glass case but they would tangle so easily. I found this wall mount at The Icing. I really wanted one that resembles a bird cage (which I saw at Home Goods), but I think this one suits my needs. My necklaces are never tangled and I can see exactly what I have. The top has a little basket where I store my cocktail rings. Sometimes I forget I have those rings up there, as I am currently in a necklace phase.

A lot of my jewelry have come from places like Forever 21, Target, boutique-like stores where I live, and eBay. eBay is a great places to find amazing pieces at great prices. One of my favorites pieces is this grey and beige piece that goes well with almost any outfit.

Recently I made a trip to my local Forever 21 and bought these beauties. I got a lot of compliments on my owl pendant. I paired with a grey sweater, which made the aqua in the pendant really pop. And also dressed up a dull work outfit.

What is YOUR fave way to spruce up an outfit?

Target haul

I went to Target just to buy a few essentials, but of course I roped into amazing deals and new beauty items I have seen on YouTube that I could not pass up. Target always seems to do that to me: suckers me into buying more than I anticipated I would.

I went for razors, moisturizer, and face wash. I did grab those things first, but decided to head to the clearance area of the jewelry department.

I have been eyeing those bangles for months, since probably October or November. I almost bought the rose gold bangles at full price back then. But I resisted the urge and never gave in. I'm so glad I didn't! I found the bangles at 70% off! I bought them in 3 out of the 4 colors available. I saw a YouTuber with the same bangles and always wanted them. I basically paid for all 3 sets less than what I would of paid for 1 set at regular price!

Then I saw the purple statement necklace. I love statement necklaces. Nothing spruces a black outfit like a bold piece of jewelry. The necklace retailed for almost $30 which I would never pay. But tonight it was also 70% off and paid less than $9. I suggest everyone visit the clearance section at Target. Sometimes you find the most amazing deals.

I also picked up a L'Oreal True Match crayon corrector and a Maybelline Color Whisper. Out of all drugstore makeup brands, I think Maybelline has to one of my top favorites. I think it ties with Revlon.

I am so happy with my purchases and can't wait to rock my new items out this weekend!

Green sparkle

One of my favorite sites to get some of my jewelry is Baublebar.com. They offer some really cute, stylish fashion jewelry at not-so crazy prices. I own quiet a few pieces from their site and I get a lot of compliments. Like today. On Bauble Bar they have $20 specials on Mondays and $10 specials on Fridays. First come, first served. About 2 weeks ago I bought 2 necklaces for $10 each, originally $28 a piece.

It's a faux emerald, square shaped gem necklace. This is the second time I've worn it. The first time I wore it as an evening piece, with an all black ensemble for a night of drinks and sushi. Today I wore it with a cognac colored sweater I got at Old Navy last month during one of their Christmas sales. I think it was the combination of the colors that made my necklace pop. Also, my nail color in Riley by Zoya could of helped. I got compliments from coworkers as well as strangers. I paired everything with just a plain pair of black pants, as always.

Don't you love it when someone compliments you on your choice of style for the day?

Shade of the day

I just received my order of Zoya nail polishes I bought during their, basically, 3 for $10 deal. And because I have no self control, I placed two orders. And believe me, I wanted to make one more, but that would of been crazy even for me. I got my order last week and I was way excited.

I took a long time picking the colors I wanted, but now I'm wishing I picked more spring colors like a green or lavender. But all and all I am happy with my picks. I got my nails done tonight and went with Riley.

I love this red color. It has a hint of berry color too. This is 2 coats. When I picked my colors I tried to pick the most opaque of shades. The site had a scale of 1 to 5, sheer to opaque. I picked 4s and 5s. I hear Zoya has a lot of these kind of deals, so you know I'm just waiting to jump on a second chance to order!

Oh I need to be more frugal.

Ghost of you and me

Tonight was the BCS championship game. Alabama vs. Norte Dame. I picked the fighting Irish and they basically lost it before halftime. This reminds me of a year ago last year. I was watching this game with the ex. We were staying in Laguna Beach at a hotel for a week. The room had a kitchen and we made dinner. Well, he made dinner. I helped. And with the window open, the ocean right outside our window, we saw Alabama win over my team which was Louisiana. This isn't the first time I have thought about the ex recently. Mainly because we spent 11 great days together last year in Laguna, one of my fave places ever. Then 4 days later we broke up. But those 11 days were fun, relaxing. And this is the time I miss him the most. Hell, I even dreamt about him last night!

I am not completely over him, but I am leap and bounds better than I was months after the breakup. Those first 3 months were a nightmare. I was a mess all the time. I was on auto pilot. Got up, went to work, came home, fell asleep. I did go out to my best friend's birthday... which was held in Laguna, dinner at a restaurant my ex and I frequented when in Laguna, and drinks at a bar with patio... less than 200 feet from the room where we spent those 11 days. Oh, that was painful. But time dulls the pain. But the memories still sting at times.

Tonight I'm feeling a little sad. I texted him tonight about who he wanted to win. He picked the roll tide. Good choice. When we communicate I wonder... does he miss me? Did he hurt like I did after our breakup? He never fought for me, for what we had when we broke up. Does he regret it? And... are you with someone new? Have you slept with anyone else? Eww, never mind. I would never want to know. But I miss him, at times like these. Was he the love of my life (even though he never loved me back)?

But I'm glad we are friendly. And that time has lessened the pain in my heart. In 2013, I hope to continue with my journey to overcome.

Have you ever been heartbroken? Sucks, huh?

I tend to over-do things

Oh, that subject title hits a little too close to comfort, but that's neither here nor there. I follow a few YouTube beauty gurus on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram. One of them is Mary, better known as aLoveTart. Hr videos are to the point, very informative, and she is a pleasure to watch. And on another note, I need new beauty gurus to watch. Any suggestions? Either way, I follow Mary in Instagram and she posted a picture of a coupon offered by Zoya, the nail polish company. Starting on Monday, they are giving away 3 full size nail polished (a $8 value) for FREE! All you pay for is $10 for s&h. Now, I don't do my own nails. I have crap nails. But I do hit the nail salon a lot. And their selections are usually as crap as my nails. So I couldn't help myself. And it's just fun to browse onlines. So I went for it.

I basically paid $10 for a $24 value, not including s&h which would tack on an additional cost. I always gravitate to dark colors. I think it compliments my skin tone well. As well as corals because, well, everyone looks good in coral. I decided to get Riley which is a deeper, vibrant red. I also picked Paris because it looks like the perfect oxblood color. And in my opinion, oxblood is such a classic, sexy hue for anytime of year. My last choice was Kalista, which is a color I am very excited about. It took forever for meto pick just three colors. I read the reviews as well, which took time. All 3 colors are very opaque, between a 4 and 5 on the site. After placing my order, I went back to Mary's post on Instagram to thank for her the head's up. Then, I started reading everyone's choices and going back to the site to look at their choices. Some people picked things I didn't even look at. So... I may have.... sorta... placed a second order -_-.

I picked another red, which is kind of silly, but Alegra is very glittery, very fun. Then I went for a gold because I am a sucker for gold everything! Richelle is a gold/neutral color that caught my eye. It was between Richelle and another color, Jules. I saw the reviews on Jules and almost went with it, but chose Richelle. Then I read someone that this spring white and neutral colors will be all the rage and that is how I came to choosing Pasha. I love the name, too! These also fall between the 4 to 5 on the opaque scale. I can't wait for my order. I paid $20 for a $48 value!

And can you believe that I actually want to get more?! But no I can't, even though I have my eye on 3 more: Kissy, Faye, and Blazen. Those seem to be very popular with everyone. But I can't, I'm done.

The code is ZOYA2013 and expires in about a week, I forgot the exact day. Well YOU be making a purchase? What colors catch your fancy
